Instrument — Lifting Log  ·  Updated August 5, 2026

Instrument is a lifting log built for the middle of a set: steppers instead of a keyboard, a rest timer inside the loop, supersets as a mode you're in rather than a card you add.

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works signed out and your log stays on the device. Signing in with Apple adds a backup you can restore on a new device, and lets you connect an AI assistant.

How do I back up or move to a new device?

Open Account, sign in with Apple, and your log uploads. It also syncs automatically at the end of each session, and Sync now pushes it on demand. Sign in with the same Apple ID on the new device to get it back.

How do I connect Claude or ChatGPT to my workouts?

Sign in, then Account → AI access → Get MCP URL. Copy that URL and add it as a custom connector (Claude) or a developer-mode connector (ChatGPT); step-by-step instructions for both are in that panel. The assistant can then read your history and answer things like “how is my bench trending?”. Treat the URL like a password — anyone who has it can read your training data. A paid plan is required on the assistant's side.

Voice notes aren't working

Dictation needs both Microphone and Speech Recognition permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, and it transcribes entirely on-device, so the first use may need to download the offline English model. Silence the request and retry — a single failure doesn't disable the mic for the session.

Summaries or “Ask” are showing plain numbers only

Those use Apple Intelligence on-device. If it is switched off, unsupported on your device, or temporarily unavailable (low battery, for example), the app falls back to the raw figures instead of failing. Check Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri.

How do I change the rest timer?

Account → Rest timer. It starts automatically when you log a set; set it to OFF to hide the strip entirely.

What is a template?

An ordered list of exercises and nothing more — no target sets, reps or weights. It queues what's next and shows your position; it never scores or limits what you log. Build one from Home → New template, or save a finished session as one from its summary.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes the local log. To remove the synced copy, open Account → Delete account — that erases your account, your whole synced history and any AI-access tokens, and cannot be undone. You can also email jordanmfrancis777@gmail.com and we'll do it for you.

Sync is failing

Sync needs a network connection and a valid session. Sign out and back in from Account to refresh it. Your local log is never deleted by a failed sync — the device is always the source of truth.
